Windows 7 RTM:  Action Center Icon Doesn't Change if Backup Fails
Under Windows 7 Utlimate (x64) RTM, I've set up a scheduled backup to my eSATA drive. If that drive is off when the backup is scheduled to start, Backup just adds a message to the Action Center that it can't find the drive and stops. The Action Center icon doesn't change to let me know there was a problem. Thus, unless I happen to notice the lack of a backup, I have no idea that something's wrong.I don't consider the failure of a scheduled task to merit just an informative message. The Action Center icon should change to let me know there was a problem and that I should open up the Action Center to find out what it was.

Hi David,Thanks for your feedback. The backup target available case is considered to be a temporary condition and is hence treated as just a warning. You can see the error message when you launch Action center. Will pass on your feedback for considering in future releases. Thanks,Sneha[MSFT]

I have the identical problem and for what it's worth I think the icon should change too. I can't tell you how difficult it was to find the answer why it was not displaying.
